NELL'S PHILOSOPHY

ABOUT NELL

Nell is a collection of clothes, accessories, home wares and baby wear that is wearable, practical and beautiful in equal measure.

Each item is designed and produced with simple, strong bones, while giving you the scope to make it your own.

Nell often sees beauty in ordinary things, like when she turned the simple shape of an ordinary plastic shopping bag into the template for a satchel in gorgeous shades of softest leather.

Her iconic ‘runners’, long lengths of beautiful fabrics, are just as versatile. They can sit on your table, lie on your bed, lounge on your sofa, hang on your wall, or do almost anything at all. Designed to complement her clothing collection, they are just one of many ways Nell connects what you wear with how you dress your home.

Other key pieces hang together on this philosophy, like Nell’s chic leather carry-all that helps you cart around everything you need (and everything else), and her tuxedo belts that you can wrap around yourself (or anything else) in as many ways as you can imagine.

It’s the same story with her patchwork quilts. Inspired by an age-old idea, these fields of colour draw on Nell’s travels to far-away places and on her French inheritance. From ethnic prints to vintage velvet to old-school linen and intricate lace… they weave together old and new, near and far… and paint the timeless picture of Nell’s eclectic style.

Founded in 2004, ‘Nell’ is a range of beautiful and useful women’s clothes, accessories, homewares and babywear from French-born designer Emmanuelle Flahault.

Using old and new limited edition fabrics handpicked on her regular trips to Europe, Emmanuelle creates chic, individually-designed pieces that are the product of research, fine craftsmanship and love.

For clients who would like to create something even more unique, Nell is happy to collaborate on a bespoke service to suit individual ideas.

Having spent 10 years as a designer and trend scout for Peclers, Paris, the internationally-acclaimed trend forecasting agency, Emmanuelle has a very good appreciation of fashion, and an even better instinct for style.

Playing with fabrics and colours has occupied her since she was a child, when she used to amuse herself in her grandmother’s wardrobe and disappear into the attic, sifting through for inspirational things.

Today, Emmanuelle hunts for treasures on her travels, and then finds new ways to interpret them into all the various facets of her collection.
